Our best inspiration when it comes to wedding planning can sometimes be taken from the silver screen. A lot of movies focus on wedding flops, but today we’re looking at some of the most memorable movie weddings – the ones that have stayed in our hearts throughout the years. The following weddings moved us, wowed us, and have stood the test of time.
1. Carrie Bradshaw’s dress in “Sex and The City”
Although at the beginning of the movie Carrie claims that she wants to wear a simple white suit (which was gorgeous as well), she ends up being completely seduced by this Vivienne Westwood gown. On top of that, her something blue is a bird that she famously wears attached to her head. Somehow, she pulls it off (as only Carrie can)!
2. Simple romance in “Love Actually”
“Love Actually” opens with the unforgettable wedding of Juliet and Peter. Everything about this ceremony is perfect, from her simple, long-sleeved gown (totally appropriate for their winter wedding), to the intimate church setting, to the surprise band playing “All You Need is Love” from the pews. Although this movie came out 10 years ago, this classic wedding would be just as gorgeous today.
3. Floral dreams in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 1)”
What bride doesn’t dream of being able to marry in a lush forest, under a canopy of draping flowers, with an aisle covered in petals? I could go on – this wedding is absolutely draped in flowers. Bella and Edward’s wedding is just too perfect for words, and if a real-life couple is able to capture even a fraction of this magical scene, their wedding would be incredible.
4. Classic elegance in “The Sound of Music”
When Maria walks down the aisle to meet her handsome soon-to-be husband, Baron von Trapp, you feel like you need to hold your breath to respect their quiet, sacred ceremony. No longer a tomboy, Maria emerges as a beautiful classic bride in a simple but elegant long-sleeved gown, veil, and floral wreath. No decor is necessary in this venue – an historic Austrian cathedral is beautiful enough.
